The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Dr. G. Weerasinghe, said that it is the aspiration of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka to see Taiwan reunite with China as soon as possible and that it will fully support this.
He said this while addressing a ceremony held at the City of Dreams Hotel in Colombo yesterday (01) to mark the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China.
Furthermore, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Dr. G. Weerasinghe, said:
The Ambassador for Peoples Republic of China in Sri Lanka H.E. Qi Zhenhong,
Distinguished Invitees,
Comrades,
On behalf of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, I am hugely honoured and proud to be the Chief Guest at this very important event, to mark the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China.
At the very outset, let me convey the warmest, fraternal greetings of Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Socialist Alliance and people of Sri Lanka to the Central Committee and to the entire membership of the Communist Party of China, the standard-bearing Party of the International Communist Movement, on the joyous occasion of its’ 105th Anniversary.
The story of Glorious 105 years, is the history of The Great Victory of Socialism.
Looking back at the magnificent 105-year history of the Communist Party of China (CPC), it is not only a turning point in the destiny of the Chinese people, but also the greatest epic in the history of the world socialist movement. Starting its journey from the Red Boat on South Lake in Jiaxing, and through revolution, construction, and reform, the CPC has successfully built an impoverished and weak semi-colonial and semi-feudal country into a vibrant, strong socialist country.
During the period when the world socialist movement fell to a low ebb following the dramatic changes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, the CPC has always held high the great banner of Marxism-Leninism, defended socialism with a strong sense of historical responsibility, and allowed socialism to demonstrate incomparable vitality in the East in the 21st century, thus becoming a staunch beacon for global progressive forces and communists.
Class Nature and the Original Aspiration of “Putting the People First”
Over the past 105 years, the CPC has never deviated from its nature as the vanguard of the working class and always maintained flesh-and-blood ties with the broadest masses of the people. As the CPC emphasizes, “this country is its people; the people are the country.” This adherence to the “people-centered” theory is the most vivid practice of historical materialism in contemporary times, and it is also the fundamental code for the CPC to overcome all difficulties and obstacles.
Governance Achievements since the 18th CPC National Congress and the Contemporary Practice of Materialist Dialectics
Particularly since the 18th National Congress, under the leadership of the CPC, China has entered a new era. Facing a complex international situation and arduous domestic reform tasks, the CPC has demonstrated exceptional governance capabilities, solving many tough problems that were long on the agenda but never resolved, accomplishing many things that were wanted but never got done, successfully advancing socialism with Chinese characteristics into a new era, and realizing another great emancipation of social productive forces.
The CPC’s achievements in developing new quality productive forces, promoting high-quality development, achieving self-reliance and strength in science and technology, and building a green ecological civilization fully prove that the socialist system is completely capable of organizing modernization more efficiently than the capitalist system, and can better balance equity and efficiency. Chinese modernization has completely broken the myth that “modernization equals Westernization, and equals capitalization.”
General Secretary Xi Jinping and the New Frontier of Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context and the Needs of the Times
The fundamental reason for the historic changes in China in the new era is having General Secretary Xi Jinping as the core of the CPC. General Secretary Xi Jinping demonstrates the outstanding political wisdom, profound theoretical attainments, and broad internationalist vision of a contemporary Marxist.
General Secretary Xi Jinping has persisted in integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and fine traditional Chinese culture, creating Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
This thought is not only the Marxism of contemporary China, but also the Marxism of the 21st century. In many aspects such as the view of development, class perspective, state governance, ecological civilization, and global governance, it has made original theoretical contributions to Marxism-Leninism, opened up a new frontier of Marxism, and greatly enriched the theoretical treasure house of scientific socialism.
Fraternal Party Cooperation: Traditional Friendship and Future Outlook Driven by Shared Ideals
The Communist Party of Sri Lanka always cherishes its profound traditional and fraternal friendship with the Communist Party of China. The cooperation between the two parties is not only based on shared Marxist-Leninist beliefs, but also forged in the shared history of struggle for the cause of socialist progress.
Facing the challenges of the new era, the Communist Party of Sri Lanka is eager to engage in dialogue with the CPC on topics such as the experience of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, and party-building practices in the new era, and to deepen cooperation in fields such as youth cadre training and grassroots organization building. We pay close attention to the CPC’s advanced practices in “theoretical progress” and “strict governance over the Party,” and are willing to continuously strengthen our own capacity building. We are ready to work together with the CPC to sound the strong notes of new-era Marxism in the global socialist movement.
The Communist Party of Sri Lanka stands firm with the historical trend of reunification of China which is an irreversible process and supports reunification of Taiwan with China. It is the wish of CPSL that Taiwan unites with China at the possible earliest.
I sincerely wish, Sri Lanka chooses sooner than later a path to overcome the crisis it is going through, as a result of continuous adherence to neo-liberal economic strategy, braking away from the international system led by imperialism and integrating decisively with South – South cooperation and achieve economic sovereignty.
Let me wish comrade Xi Jinping many more years of strong, visionary and bold leadership at core, and the Communist Party of China, great victories on the path of constructing socialism in China.
Long Live Communist Party of China!
Long Live International Communist Movement!
