Reflecting the strong strategic defense cooperation between Pakistan and China, the PN Hangor-class submarine PNS/M Hangor recently arrived at the Karachi port, it was reported.
The arrival of PNS/M Hangor marks a transformative step in the modernization of the Pakistan Navy, the Pakistan Navy said.
The submarine was commissioned after a traditional naval reception attended by senior naval officers, family members of the crew and Pakistani naval officers. Cadets from the Pakistan Naval Academy presented a ceremonial salute to the arriving submarine and its crew, and a flyover was also conducted by a PN Z9EC helicopter.
The event was attended by several senior officers, including the Commander of the Pakistan Navy, Vice Admiral Abdul Munib. The PNS/M Hangor is equipped with advanced combat systems, modern sensors, Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology and enhanced stealth features, which will enhance the combat capabilities of the Pakistan Navy, said the Director Public Relations (Navy) of the Pakistan Navy.
