The United States condemned Tuesday’s Islamabad court suicide blast that killed 12, pledging full support to Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad condemned Tuesday’s deadly suicide bombing near the city’s judicial complex, reaffirming Washington’s support for Pakistan’s fight against terrorism.
In a statement on social media platform X, the embassy said the United States “stands with Pakistan” and supports its efforts to ensure peace and stability.
The blast in Islamabad’s G-11 sector killed at least 12 people and injured 27 others, according to Pakistani officials. The explosion triggered fires that engulfed several vehicles in the area.
Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a breakaway faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it targeted the judicial complex. The TTP later denied any involvement, calling itself “unconnected” to the assault.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif described the bombing as a “serious warning” for the nation, saying that militants had brought the war inside Pakistan and dialogue with Kabul would be “a mistake.”
The United States’ condemnation aligns with statements from other Western missions in Islamabad, which have expressed concern over the resurgence of militant violence in Pakistan.
Analysts say Washington’s support could strengthen Pakistan’s counterterrorism cooperation, though relations between Islamabad and Kabul remain strained amid accusations of cross-border militant activity.
