A snowstorm has hit the war-torn Gaza Strip, foreign media reports.
The Byron snowstorm, which caused flooding in Greece and Cyprus two days ago, hit the Gaza Strip the day before yesterday (13), severely affecting nearly 800,000 Palestinians, foreign media reports.
Weather reports have predicted that the heavy rainfall and strong winds caused by the storm will continue for the next few days, and foreign media reports indicate that 16 Palestinians have already lost their lives. Although the UN refugee agency has provided waterproof tents, blankets and other relief supplies to the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Hamas movement began last October, it is also said that these are not resistant to the storm and rain. Foreign media reports that the areas where Palestinians displaced by the war are living in unprotected tents amid the prevailing windy and rainy weather conditions lack adequate drainage and waste management, and that Palestinians living in tents amidst the ruins of the war are facing a serious health crisis. It is also worth noting that many international organizations have issued warnings that flooding in the Gaza Strip, where infrastructure has already been severely damaged by the war, could cause serious damage. Gaza health authorities have also stated that Palestinians have faced many hardships during this stormy winter season as Israel continues to deny them essential supplies, including food, fuel, and drinking water.
