Sri Lankan Airlines has issued an urgent warning to the public about a rise in scam activities targeting passengers and potential customers, with scammers impersonating airline staff through WhatsApp messages and unsolicited phone calls.
The airline said scammers are attempting to trick individuals into installing mobile applications, sharing their screens or revealing sensitive information including one-time passwords, banking PINs and credit card details.
Sri Lankan Airlines stressed that it does not contact customers through WhatsApp or make unsolicited calls for ticketing, promotions or any other purpose, and will never request OTPs, banking PINs, credit card information or ask customers to share their screens or install third-party applications.
The public is advised to remain vigilant, ignore suspicious communications and report any such incidents to the relevant authorities.
The airline recommends verifying all promotions and offers exclusively through its official website, www.srilankan.com, or its verified social media channels.
