More than 300 lorries loaded with cargo have been stuck at the Colombo Port premises for several days, the Transport Owners Association said.
The situation has arisen due to the aid received in the wake of the disaster and the influx of goods brought in during the festive season, said Sanath Manjula, the chairman of the Vehicle Owners Association.
Stressing that a quick solution must be provided to this issue, he also said that lorries carrying container boxes carrying materials imported for the upcoming Christmas celebrations will be subject to a higher toll.
