The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s #1 connectivity provider, are set to renew their strategic partnership through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming their joint commitment to accelerating inclusive and sustainable development throughout Sri Lanka.

This renewed collaboration builds on the foundation laid by the previous MoU, which catalyzed significant initiatives in social innovation and community empowerment. The new agreement expands the scope of cooperation to include digital transformation, financial inclusion, gender equality, disaster risk reduction, education, agriculture, and other critical areas aligned with Sri Lanka’s national development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The signing ceremony marks a significant milestone in the journey toward a more equitable and digitally empowered Sri Lanka. It also signals a renewed focus on leveraging cross-sector collaboration to drive innovation, bridge gaps in access and economic opportunity, and promote long-term prosperity.

“By bringing together JICA’s global development expertise and Dialog’s cutting-edge technological capabilities, we are confident that this partnership will deliver scalable, people-focused solutions to address Sri Lanka’s pressing socio-economic challenges,” said Kenji Kuronuma, Chief Representative of JICA Sri Lanka Office. “Our shared goal is to contribute meaningfully to resolving the country’s key development challenges and to supporting its long-term, sustainable progress.”

As Sri Lanka continues to navigate complex development dynamics, this partnership stands as a model for how public-private cooperation in technology-development nexus can unlock transformative change and deliver tangible benefits to people and communities across the country.
