A discussion on Omar Khayyam and Ferdowsi in Colombo

A discussion commemorating two world-renowned Iranian poets, Omar Khayyam and Ferdowsi, was held in Colombo recently (15).


The Iranian Science Society of Sri Lanka and the Cultural Center of the Iranian Embassy jointly organized this commemoration program in conjunction with Khayyam Ferdowsi Day.
Prominent Sri Lankan filmmakers, university professors, historians and journalists participated in the event.
The opening speech of this commemorative discussion was delivered by Dr. Ali Kebriayi Saadeh, Director of the Cultural Center of the Iranian Embassy in Sri Lanka.
During his inaugural address, the literary talents and intellectual contributions of Khayyam and Ferdowsi, as well as the realistic qualities embodied in their poems, were discussed in depth.
Iranian musician Ali Reza Shahini performed a traditional Persian musical performance, which amazed the audience.
