
A senior officer of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, has been killed in a car bomb explosion, TASS news agency reported.
Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, who died in the explosion, served as the head of Russia’s operational training center, TASS news agency reported, citing Svetlana Petrenko, a spokeswoman for the Investigative Committee.
The bomb, which was planted under the car carrying Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, exploded as he was driving along Yasenevo Street in Moscow.
The 56-year-old lieutenant general, who was seriously injured, died after being taken to hospital, Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said. A multi-agency investigation has been launched into the incident, and the TASS news agency reported that there are suspicions that Ukraine planned the attack.
